Those who have followed the work being done in the Y. M. C. A. are convinced that it deserves to live, and will be glad to help in anyway possible to attain that end. Even those who have been most pessimistic with regard to the future of the work acknowledge that what has been done during the past months makes the institution worthy of the support of the public. The building while not very attractive outwardly is bright and cheerful within and is now an attractive resort where young men may spend pleasant evenings in the midst of surroundings that cannot be questioned. Thanks to the efforts of the enthusiast- ic Ladies’ Auxiliary the parlor is now very comfortable and attractive. The reading room also has been put in good condition and can compare favourably with any in the lower Provinces. Well supplied with the leading papers, magazines, and illus- trated papers it should be more largely patrohized by the citizens. It is doubtless due to a lack of knowledge of its attrac- tions that more do not take advantage of its opportunities for spending a pleasant hour. The oli fashioned magazine hold- ers have glven place to those of the most modern kind which are much more con- venient and attractive. ` The large hall on the top door _has been used as a gymnasium, and the classes. ten in number each week, under the leader~ ship of the General Secretary have proved very benficial.
