The drama consists of three aegis with prologue, and has an inter: esting plot. Itismuch too wordy how- ever, and some of the -scenes would be materially improved by a judicious appli- cation of the pruning knife. The part of “Paul” whs taken in a natural and sympathetic manner by Master Clitflrd Cox, and hie impersonation throughout was very clever for a lad of his years. Mr. J. H. Macdonald played the part of “Anthony,” the cruel brother of “Paul,” and did it very well. But the infusion ef a little more life into his acting would bave made the impersonation more acceptabie. Mr. J. J. MacGowan, who impersonated * Nicklas,” was one of the best characters in the cast. His make-up as the beggar was excellent and hi« rendering of the part sympathetic. Mr. Lynch as *Linus,” the servant, was also well made up, aod he mace the ost ofa small part. But the ceuses which led to the restoration of his | sight towards the end of the play were not } made apparent to the audience. | Mr. Ryan as “Urban,” the leader of the bandits, was sanguinary-looking enough ; ’ g g SATURDA Y—_£ and performed his part very | for anything, a well iodeed. Hewas ably supporied by Messrs Tobin and Foran. The parts of “Count Felix” and“ Philip” were creditably taken by Messrs P. F. | Doyle and F. G. O'Neill, respectively. The other ¢ -haracters in ‘the play were made the most of, and the presentation, on the whole, was very good, many of the performers receiving well-merited applause, But, as bas already been pointed ont, the play is too wordy and would have been improved by the cutting down of some of the scenes. The stage settings, too, might have been better. Between the acts of the drama Miss Hyndman rang two eolos with skill and in a sympathetic manver and was presented with floral tributes by some of her admirers in the audience. Mies Maisie Coady also dancedth: tambourine dance very ekillfally, and was rewarded with rounds of applause. The performance was iv aid of the new Cathedral fuod, and a snug eam must have been realized. <P ene How to Get Rich.
