The following is from the Times‘ Paris cor- res ndont's letter, dated Aug. 31. 'Ihe opinion that Austria shows at last une- quivocal signs of adhesion to the active policy of the allies appears to ain ground, not among the ublic at large, but in those quarters where the st information is supposed to be obtained. The opinion is, as I expected, expressed in more than one of the Ministerial journals, and will probably be a . in insisted upon. It is evident, there is no esire on the art of the Government thata contarry feelings ould exist: but, as we hear as yet of no new. fact, no con- vincing proof, that Austria is on the point of chan in her neutrality into action, one can hardly eel more confident than before. My reason for believing the, Santa Anna would keep his place uniill the nation attained the condition adoptaed for a constitutional government, was that every other system but that which he was ‘enforcing had been tried in Mexico, and there was no other new plan which could be substituted for his absolute authority.
