Before 1950 Competition RULES OF COMPETITION Eligibility- (a) HOMES and SCHOOLS - Any Rural Home or School situated outside limits of any City or In- corporated Town in Prince Edward Island shall be eligible for the competition. (b) Participation in last or previous year's compet- itions shall not bar any Home or School from the competitions. (c) COMMUNITIES - Any Women's ilnstitute or other community group may enter the competition for community improvement. Entries must state items to be improved I Entries- Entries shall be mailed to the Secretary, using form provided on this page not later than May 5th, 1951. 1 Judging-w A Pamphlet entitled Initial judging will begin May 8th, 1951. Final judging will commence Sept. 1. 1951. Contestants must abide by the Judge's decision, which shall be final. ENTRANCE FEE of 50 cents MUST accompany all applications. All work done in Spring of 1951 prior to judging will be credited to the contestant. Planting of suitable Native Trees will receive the same consideration as imported omamentals. NURSERY STOCK-The Cotton Memorial Trust Nursery has available trees, shrubs, and some per- ennial plant stock at very reasonable prices. Write for list of materials to Mr. Robert Snazelle, The Forest Nursery, R.R. 5, Charlottetown. 8. As this is an IMPROVEMENT COMPETITION only work done to EXISTING structures. either. Home or Schools, shall be scored. 9. Homes shall for the purposes of this competition include all barns and outbuildings within the pre- cincts of the residence. ' 10. All TROPHIES are for Annual Competition only. 11. Snapshots of unimproved properties may be taken by contestants wishing to make an early start before first inspection. E.l. Rural Beautification Society INTRODUCTION . Once again the P. E. I. Rural Beautification So- ciety is pleased to announce its Annual Competitions. As in previous years the emphasis is on improve- ment and the home and school and community with the greatest room for improvement naturally has the greatest opportunity in the competition. - This year we have added special prizes for school and community improvement, and for outstanding homes. We have been greatly encouraged by the results of previous competitions and believe the efforts of several hundred people made annually towards im- provement of their dwellings and school properties will have a definite effect on the appearance of our whole rural countrysideSand make our Fair Island more at- tractive to its residents-more enticing to tourists.
