Sir,—In your iseue of the 14th ipetant, I notice a letter signed “Observer,” Cardi gan. This correspondent, who is afraid to come out over his own signature, makes a cowardly attack on the Directors of a proposed cheese factory at Cardigan Bridge. His statements from beginning to end are falee and misleading, ae | will now prove. In the first plece he eays “ the said factory is to be between New Perth and St. George’e, leaving a radius of about two miles on either side in which there little or no milk.” This factory will be six miles from 8k. George’s and about the same distance from New Perth, and there are about one hundred cows more on the list now than some other factories started with. It is tne public opinion thatthis fectory will be one of the best located in the county. The site is near Aliey’s mille, about a mile from the railway station, sod in a very prosperous farming recton, The manogement will be covducted on usiness principles. The patrons will re- ceive the tul! value of their milk sent. Nothing euall bs deducted from this amount as payment for building end plant as we understand was done in other places. There is an entirely new stock list for present sit, and some of the pro- moters cf this enterprise bave stock in other factories and have previously hauled milk for miles to them. “Observer ” goes ou to say that there is only one farmer among the promoters of this project. In view of the fact that the Directors are all farmers, this is a more bare-faced falsehood than his other state- ments. Now, let Mr. Observer deny these facts if he dare. Why does he not come out over his own signature like a man? We know who he is, and it is no credit to him to cast refiectious on the progressive farmers of this section. We challenge him to make another attack on our res epectable, enterpriring farmers and their piopored cheese factory over his own signature. J. F.
