Bruce was appoint- ed ehalrmau and Prof. C. J. McMillan, Secretary. The reports of::be dlderent societies d were submitted and showed the several “ departments of the church work to be in a most prosperous condition. The, following' is the report of the trustees. The Trustees beg to submit the follow- ing report of their work during 1903. In doing so we join with the congrega- tion in returning thanks to the Great Head of the Church who has blessed us in the work. Our collections on current account_have not been quite as large as last year, yet they were as great as the average year of our Church. The envelope collections amounted to $2,049.98; loess collections, .$841.86-as compared with $2,l4B,00 and Q882.93 last year. We would urge on the congregation to vote no money that will increase the running expenses of the Church. During the year one of your Trustees was summoned Home-the late Dr. Rob- ert Bruce Shaw. We miss him at our meetings, as he was always pleasant and agreeable to work with. David Melnnis owes elected to iii his place,on the Board. This action which was commenced on Tuesday afternoon was concluded yester- day atternoon when a verdict was re- turned for $72, being within a few dollars of the plaintiffs claim. The suit was brought to recover coniiulssion for pur- chasing hogs and for money paid for hogs for the defendant Company. The plaintiff claimed that he was employed by the Company to purchase hrgs for which he was to receive ten cunts per hog; that he was to pay for the hogs to the farmers ` D Y . that lie received notice that the Co. would receive hogs at Tignlsh St ation On the morning of the iith of November. and he accordingly notified the farmers in the vlcnity of Tignish and adjoining conn- try to bring in their stock at that time which they did and he bought and paid for some§l80 hogs; that at dinner time on tlmt day he received a telephone ins ssagc r. .-it if he bought any it would be at his own risk and that he then cesrei Luylng; that between four and tive ok-lock in the afternoon, a weigher for the deicndan, came to 'lfignlsh but at this time all the hogs were brought, weighed and paid for and most of them were on the cars ready for shipment to Charlottetown. The hogs were shipped to Charlottetown and weighed on ilie lith Nov. on the defendants' scales, and the defendants paid the plaintiff according to the weight shown by these scales, which weight was very much less than that ai- lowed to the farmer by the plaintliii The plalntlifclaimed that he should he paid for the hogs as weiizhrd on the scales at Tlgnish and not what they weighed in Charlottetown on the delendants'scaies. The defence was that the plaintiif had not been authorised to purchase but only to notify the farmers that the company would be on hand on iith Nov. to weigh and purchase and |nspec. theanimais, and that in any event it wds only liable for the pigs according to the weight as weighed by its own oiiicer in Charlottetown.
