MacDougall stated during the meeting that if another meeting could be arranged for next week to give fair consideration to going on Daylight Saving Time in Sum:nersI(' he would withhold his resignation until after that time. Four councillors, Clark. Lldstone, Jenkins and Cannon, supported him on this issue, but Mayor Cur- rle, who also said he favored Day- light Time, stated that he felt noth- ing could be done this year and preferred not to have the matter brought up in council at present. He said nothing could be done with out flouting the law and the only way to get around it is through a change of store hours,which he added, is a matter for the retail merchants committee.
