This great shown; by tbu enterprising village must have taken a. lot of folks by surprise but after you look into activities in this community. the result wasn’t such an upset after all. AT Sherwood this season. the grown-ups went to workto ‘ ' ' ' the youngsters. It's been about e most popular spot in this region since ice making became possible. No longer do these boys and girls need to depend on other rinks. They have their very own and they are happy and contented about it. THE way the youngsters showed their appreciation to the erwood adults of Sh by through last Friday mirely must have made the older folks feel good about the effort they had put forth This Wide awake community is looking after its youth in fine style. They realize the needs of their. children and they have gone out and done something practical about fulfilling those 11 s. ‘ Here in Sherwood. there is a highly competitive intra- mural league in operation and Chief of Police Norton has ar- ranged for trophies and prizes for top teams and players. Jack is really sold on this idea and Monday morning he could be seen bright and early taking snow off the big ice surface. it’s a really co-operative effort in Sherwood and the good folks out there have every right to feel proud of what they have done and what they are doing. Other communities could surely profit from this example. - Congratula 'ons Sherwood. Ai Queen Charlotte AND out at Queen Charlotte High School, Jack ‘Spy' Ready has seen to it that an outdoor rink was provided for children of that school. Youngsters attending the School have had loads of ice time this season. 9 ice has made Queen Charlotte unbeaten this season in their inteischolastic games with Bircth High. We feel that Ready’s charges are in better shape this season than dieyve been year A Great spirir THESE extra bits of effort mean much to the children. Ice time naturally is at a premium at The Sports Arena and it’s almost a ‘must’ that the skaters and hockey players get some extra time somewhere. Sherwood and Queen Charlotte are seeing to it that the students of their schools are getting that extra ice time. There was a time when skating on the harbour and on the Government Pond provided children in the Charlottetown area with many great hours of enjoyment. But these things seem to be no more and the outdoor skating facilities now need to be man-made. It's gratifying to find adults willing and ready to devote time and muscle to this job of providing outdoor rinks, They indeed are community-minded people and hate words of com- mendation from all 51 Rangers Defeat Red Wings 4-3 DETROIT (AP) Camille Henry scored three goals, inr man) 5:46: 2.
