Student Research Awards: The objective of these awards is to stimulate the interest of un- dergraduate students in research by providing them with valuable experience in and industrial lab- oratory, and to encourage these students to undertake graduate studies. Eligibility is similiar to the above award section. For the duration of the award, a student will be an employee of the com- pany at which the award is held. Awards are normally tenable dur- ing the summer months with a maximum of four month dura- tion. Application forms are avail- able from the UPEI department heads. 10. Petro Canada Awards for Native Students: A. Open B. Petro Canada Inc. is offer- ing up to five( 5) education awards each year to post-secondary stu- dents of Canadian Indian or Inuit ancestry. The purpose is to en- courage and to assist Native in- dividuals to complete advanced educational studies which may be applied in an industrial set- ting (Petro Canada itself and the oil and gas industry in general). Each application will be consid- ered using such criteria as: finan- cial need, academic performance and potential, the appropriate- ness of the discipline of studies to industry, and future aspirations. C. The awards are designed to cover all or part of tuition; textbooks, supplies and the stu- dent’s living expenses during the course of the academic year. The maximum amount of the award is $5000.00 per year depending on the financial needs of the student. D. Students are requested to apply for the Petro Canada Edu- cation Award through the awards office at their post-secondary in- stitution. ‘11. Pillsbury Undergraduate Scholarship Program: The purpose of the Pillsbury Undergraduate Scholarship Pro- gram is to encourage scholastic achievement and development in areas which are of primary con- cern to Pillsbury Canada Lim- ited. Two awards of $1250.00 will also be given to students of Business/Commerce and two awards of $1250.00 will also be given to students of Food Sciences and Agricultural Sci- ence. This program is open to all faculties of Business/Food Science/Agricultural Science at Canadian Universities. Four uni- versity scholarships are awarded annually.
