ce She A th te enor omen — ae nan la = Ril acaneeeon FOR THE AGED. {The following hymn was composed by the late Charlotte Elliott, author of ‘‘ Just as I am,” during a night of great suffering in her eightieth year! She gave it the night after she wrote it to a relative, who found the hymn roved a comfort to so many aged Christians that she desires its publication. In life’s evening long and dreary, From the treasures once possessed, Is thy spirit faint and weary? Dost thou long to be at rest? On this sweet promise fix thy sight : ‘At even time it shall be light.” ‘« Light is sown” for thee in gladness, Even in this vale of tears ; Soon will pass the night of sadness, Grief will fly when morn appears ; Still to Faith’s strong illume d sight, «« At even time it shall be light.” Look not on the ills around thee, Earth grows darker every hour ; Let not crime’s increase confound thee, Limited is Satan’s power, : Look on the regions pure and bright. ‘* At even time it shall be light.” Dwell not on the growing weakness ‘That preceeds thy frames decay ; Rise above depressing sickness, Catch the dawns apenenene ray, Faith can discern the day-star bright, ‘* At evening time it shall be light.” See thy Saviour bending o’er thee, Even to old age the same ; See life’s one chief end before thee, Still to glorify His name. While on Himself is fixed thy sight,— ‘‘4t evening time it shall be light.’ — Business Laws. Ignorance of the law excuses no one. It is a frava to conceal a fraud. The law compels no one to do an im- possibility. Signatures made with a lead pencil are good in law. An agreement without consideration is void. A receipt for money paid is not legal- ly conclusive. The acts of one partner bind all the others. Contracts made on Sunday cannot be enforced. A contract made with a minor is void. Principals are’ responsible fcr the acts of their agents. | Agents are responsible to their prin eipals for errors. «> Kach individual in a partnership is responsible for the whole amount of the debts of the firm. A note given by a minor is void. Notes bear interest only when so stated. It is not legally necessary to say ona note ‘for value received.’ A note drawn on Sunday is void. A note obtained by fraud, or from a rson in a state of intoxication, cannot collected. If a note be lost or stolen it does not release the maker; he must pay it. Nov. 26—3m wed & sat The Greatest Medical Diseovery since the Creation of Man, or since the Commencement of the Christian Era, There never has been a time when the heal- ing of so many different diseases has deen eaused by outward application as the present. It is an undisputed fact that over half of the entire population of the globe resort to the use of ordinary plasters. Dr. MELVIN’S Capsicum Ponovs PLASTERS are acknowledged by all who have used them, to act quicker than any other plaster they ever before tried, and that one of these plasters will do more real service than a hundred of the ordinary kind. Al] other plasters are slow of action, and require to be worn continually to effect a cure; but with these it is entirely dif- ferent: the ‘stant one is applied the patient will feel its effect. Physicians in all ages have thoroughly tested and well know the effect of Capsicum; and it has always been more or less used as @ medical agent for an outward application; but it is only of very recent date that its advan- es in a porous plaster have Leen diseovered. should be relieved from anxiety con- cerning disease. The mind has power over the body—for a person to think he has a disease will often produce that! disease. This we see effected when the mind is intensely concentrated upon the disease of anotber. We have seen #& person seasick in anticipation of a}. voyage, before reaching the vessel. We have known people to die of can- cer in the stomach, when they had no cancer in the stomach or any other mortal disease. A blind-folded man, slightly pierced in tbe arm, has fainted and died from believing he was bleed- ing to death. Therefore persons should have their minds diverted as much as possible from themselves. It is by their faith that men are saved, and it is by their faith that they die. Asa man thinketh, so is he. If he wills not to die, he can often live in spite of disease ; and, if he has little or no attachment to life, he will slip away as easily asa child will fall asleep. Men live by their minds as well as b their bodies. Their bodies have ho life of themselves; they are only recep. tacles of life—tenements for their minds, and the will has much to de in continuing the physical occupancy or giving it up. : The People Want Proof. ” There is no medicine prescribed by physi cians, or sold by Druggists, that carries such évidence of its success and superior virtues as Boscues’s German Syrup for severe Coughs, hie Colds settled on the breast, Consumption, or, any disease of the Throat and Lungs. A proof | of that fact is that any person afflicted, can’ geta wae Bottle for 10 cents and try its superior effect before buying the regular size at 75 cents. It has lately pn introduced in ares are astonishing, everyone, that wae" are s ev e t use it. | Three doses will ‘Siow 4a case. Try it ' Sold by all Duggists onthe Western Cntinent Being, however, convinced of the wonderful cures effected by DR. MELVIN’s CAPSICUM Porous PLASTERS, and their superiority over all other plasters, they now actually prescribe them, in their practice, for such diseases as rheumatism, pain in the side and back, and all such cases as have required the use of plasters orliniment. After you have tried other plas- ters and liniments, and they have failed, and want acertain cure, ask your druggist for MELVIN’s CAPSICUM POROUS PLASTER, You can hardly believe your own convictions of its wonderful effects, Although powerful and uick in its action, you can rely on its safety or the most delicate person to wear, as it is free from lead and other poisonous material commonly used in the manufacture ef ordin- ary plasters. One trial is @ sufticient guarantee of its merita, and one plaster will ¢7ll hundreds to your friends. Ask your druggist for DR. MgLVIN’s CAPsI- CUM POROUS PLASTER, and take no other; or, on receipt of 25 cents for one, $1 for five, or $2 for a dozen, they will be mailed, post paid, to any address in the United States or Canadas.
