Instead of going home from school to dinner, he remained to play along the roads by jumping on to passing sleds. When get- ting off a sled he slipped and fell underneath, the body of the sled dragging him along for some distance, making a serious cut on one; eye and bruising the head very badly. Some persons who knew this planned to exturt money from Skein. They wrote letters to him and signed the girl’s name, calling upon him to send her certain sums of money, which he enclosed in return letters. Some time afterwards he met the girl on the street and spoke to her about the money. She denied everything in con- nection with the matter. Skein thea be- came aware that he was the victim of a plot.
