There is the sea-girt province of Prince Edward `Is1and, fittingly named “Tho Garden of the Gulf.” It is beautiful beyond de- scription- The softened and varied na- ture of its landscape, the greenness of its grass and trees, and the sparkling purity of its streams make it an ideal land for comfortable and cozy. homes. The neat) white-Washed farm buildings also bespeak the contentment and ti- diness of the people. In continuing, he compared also the other provinces of the Dominion. THE Stanley was sighted yesterday about five miles south of East Point. It was thought bv some that she was ’ heading tor Souris but no doubt the captain will take her to Georgetown if possible to reach there, as there' is con- siderable freight awaiting her at that port. The Stanley has on board a good deal of freight for which merchants are getting about impatient waiting. There .' are also a number of trunks -belonging to commercial travellers who ` landed near Murray Harbor on the 3rd inst.. and who are anxiously awaiting her ar- rival. There are two lady passengers lon board. The Stanley left Picton on Thursday, Feb. 2nd and has now, been y out twelve days. This is the longest period she has ever been ice-bound at none time. Georgetown harbor is cover- ed with a sheet of ice but this is not too | steamer. At a later hour yesterday | evening Mr. A. Lord of the Marine De- ] partment received word from Souris l that her whistle was heard, but it being I dark she could not be seen, and accord- 'ingly Mr. Lord ordered that both Souris W and Georgetown harbors be lighted. ‘n By telephone from Souris at ll ‘i o`clock last night, the GUARDIAN is in- formed that there was no further word ,from the Stanley. A severe storm was l raging and it was thought that she might be drifted again to sea, probably in the direction of Picton. _ lug. Talk about values.
