At a meeting of the Board of Trade held in the Board Rooms last. cveningit was unanimously decided that the Board should support the P. E. Island Tunnel scheme, which is at present receiving the attention of the Dominion Government nt the instance ofthe people of the Island Province. Sandford Shaver, Vice-President of thr- Board, was in the chair, and a cfansider able number of members were present. A feature of the meeting was the sd- drese of Capt. Read, arepresentative of the Island, who had _iusttreturned from Ottawa, where he, with others had been interviewing the government with regard to the proposed tunnel. Mr. Shaver, in opening the meeting, ex- plained the object of its being called and referred at some length to the manner in which the construction of the proposed tunnel atlected Sydney. He pointed out that there was ascareity ofditferent kinds of produce in Sydney at the' present time and said that if communication with P. E. island, our present source of supply was kept up all winter there would be no occasion forthis scarcity nor for the high pri(-es which are prevailing. He ru-aked the secretary to rcad the resolution with regard to the matter which would be placed before the meeting, and which is as follows: “\\'hereas, steamship communication with P. E.
