Town- send occurred at his home in Kenoington on Saturday evening. April 24th, 1MB, after an illness of eleven weeks. Mr. Townsend was the town's oldest citizen and had Just passed his ninety-first birthday. He had always enjoyed good health previous to his last illness. I-Ie was born at New Annan. the son o! James; Townsend and his iviie, Eliza Walker. His father died when he was a small boy and early in life he had to assume the re- sponsibility of building up a home. This he wu very successful in do- ing. and 111-1918 when he decided to retire he was the owner of a comfortable farm property. In that year, he sold his farm and moved to Kenslngion where he has lived ever since. He was a zealous and faithful member of Kensingtou Presbyter- ian Church, from which the lun- eral service was held on Tuesday afternoon, April 27th. The service was conducted by Rev. J. A. Mae- Gowan. In speakingwf the de- ceased, Mr. MacGowan saidthat he had taken part in the service of praise in the church for sixty- onc years. He is survived by his widow. Arthur Wright of New Annan is a nephew and Miss Alice Wiriglit a niece. Alden MscKie of Bay Fortune. and J. T. MacKie od Calgary are also nephews. The pallbearers were Jarvis Dal- ziel, Alexander Hiltz. James 'I‘. Profltt, and his three cousins, David I... Walker, William J. and John H.
