Dashes Into Verandah After Striking three Other Automobiles Damage Consid- erable. After striking three other auto- mobiles about midnight Saturday night a car, the driver of which has since been arrested, crashed into the verandah of the large house on Euston Street owned by Mrs. F. S. Mitchell, and caused considerable damage. The Wr- andah, which runs the entire length of the house, was driven fully a foot and a half out of position, and the railing, the pillars, and the foundation were badly damaged. Part of a lattice fence adjacent to the Huestis Service Station was carried away. The car is alleged to have been travelling at a rapid rate of speed, and the extent of the damage would seem to bear out the allegation. The vehicle itself was badly damaged. The three occu- pants deserted it, and took to their heels. The driver was placed under arrest yesterday, and will appear in court this morning. Some of the occupants of the car received scratches. The first. car struck by the one involved in the accident received a damaged fender, the second had two fenders torn off. the third, two fenders and a running-board torn off.
