The river is still open and a fewsmall craft await freights. Business is not lively owing to the poor sleighing Saturday last, three young men named Beers, frem Lot61, came to the bridge lock- ing for a thrashing, and got more then they bargained for, though not all they deserv- ed. Having visited the tax-collector, and used not very curious arts On some black and white bottles, the unclean spirits got into them, when they sought one Mac- lean’s to find other more wicked spirits, failing which, they smashed several articles ‘of glass, &e., in the store, and repsired to Messrs. Campbell & Co.’s, where they thought to repeat theeprocers. However, they left for home without cops, their ears being warm enough to save them from the frost. Two seafaring men fought on Sunday at noon on board a schooner lying in the stream, and then came on the Government wharf to finish. But one was too much to stand the other to it. So peace was proclaimed. One map had a bad cut under his eye. Rumor says they came from Point Prim; but they did not look at all prim on this occasion.
