PITTSBURG, Pa., Oct. 25.-Eleven girls and one man employed in the factory of the Union Paper Box Com- pany on the north side are known to be dead, eight girls are badly injured and a number of others are missing as the result of a fire which this after- noon started in the feed store of Jam- es Brown and Company and spread to the factory. Fireman searching the ruins of the three story factory re- covered the bodies. They searched in the dense smoke. Twenty-shi girls and six men were at work when the fire broke out. The bodies recovered were so badly burn- ed as to be unrecoguizable. Soon after three o'clock firemen penetrated to the girls dressing room in the factory where they found three bodies on the floor. The girls had been suffocated. One of them was identified by her her brother as Cecilia Jose, as the body was taken into the street. A few minutes later three more bodies were found, two of them badly burned, but the other was saidby per- sons living in the neighborhood to be -Florence Becker, who obtained work in the factory only a day or two ago. Minnie Bittner, one of the girls who jumped from the burning building died while on the way to the hospital. As the flames rushed upwards through the flimsy building frightened girls ran to the windows and without hesi- tation began jumplng to the street. In an increditably short time the structure was wrapped in flames and gathered crowds in the streets heard the screams 0f_ those unable to reach the windows. Several women were quickly gathered from the sidewalk and hurried to a nearby hospital where one died soon after being ad- mitted. Twenty-two girls are unac- counted for. _ The factory was operated by the Union Paper Company and officers said 32 girls were at work when the fire broke out. COUGHED CONTINUALLY That statement does not surprise us. We have ,told the people of Char- lottetown many times during the last ten years that Vinol is the greatest remedy for chronic coughs and colds that we ever sold. Mr. Dunning says: “I took a. heavy cold which settled into a chronic cough. It seemed as though l coughed continually day and night, so I could not sleep. I was all run-down'and so weak I could hardly keep about. I tried different cough medicines but seemed to get worse instead of better. I went to the drug store and got a bottle of Vinol. Be- fore it.was half gone I was better and its continued use cured my cough, built me up and I am feeling fine.” Benj. Dunning, 208 Tenth Ave., Scran- ton. Pa. Vinol is not a pallatlve like cough syrups, but it is_ a constitutional rem- edy for coughs,'colds and bronchitis,, which removes the cause and stops the cough, and the recovery of Mr. Dunning was due to the healing medi- cinal extractlves of fresh cods' livers without oil. aided by the strengthen ing. revitalizing effect of tonic iron and beef peptone which are contained in Vinol.
