Indian meal, sweet milk. sour milk and molasses. one teaspoonful of salt and one heap- -T-ingdeaspoonful of soda. Stir the meals and salt together. Beat the soda into the molasses until it foams; add the sour milk. mix all together and pour into a tin pall, if you have no brown-bread steamer. Set thc pail into a kettle of boiling water and steam three or four hours keeping it tightly covered. Fifty years ago. le was the stand- ard article. often tllree times a day. and chief among those to be remem- bered was the old-time custom ple of which the present day product is but a poor imitation. Old-time Custard Pie.-One. pint of milk, three eggs, four lablespoonfuls of augur, and onehalf loaspoonful of salt. Line a deep plate with pie crust, rolling it large enough to pint-li up a little edge aornrtd the plate. Bent the egg; thoroughly. add sugar and salt. and beat again; then add the milk and ltir well. Pour into the plate. Bake until It rises, being sure to remove from the oven before it wheys.
