Ryan goes the credit for getting the movement under way and a general meeting of the old members of the band who have volunteered to act as iii- structors, and the boys. will be held Thursday night to gc into the details more fully. About twenty five boys, ranging between the ages of l3 to l5 years, will be selected to form the band and at. the meetings which have so far been held the enthusiasm has been running high among the young lads who all hope to have an instrument assigned to them. The formation oi this band will fill a long felt want for it has been a source nf regret that the Sum- merside girls band, of which the town was so justly proud, gradua disbanded, due to the inroa. s made into its rim-ks by Dan Cupid and for recruits for the different branches of the Women's Armed Services. lay d In the meantime the instruments have remained unused and as "I ate as Tara's Harp" until the genial welfare officer came along with the idca of the boys’ band. A great deal o! credit is also due to mos. oid-ar members oi the torm- er band who have volunteered to do all they can to instruct the young musicians. It is understood that up'to the present time no dei- inite appointment of a leader for the band has been made but since there are several men in town with the necessary qualifications it should not be difficult to have some one take complete charge lo that when the warm summer months arrive citizens will have the pleasure of a weekly band con- cert in the public garden.
