Why, dir, the facilities for shipping there are excellent as fur as noble, bo'd water lis concerned bat if we look at the accommodation supe jpled by wharves Ke, it is very poor indeed, end we would almost think that tne lion, Attorney General, who has such con'rol in these matters, never represented aeons'itnency in King’s County. If it is thought that Georget wo is growing smaller, and beautifully less in ihe wey of ecommerce, Lam sure that whatever it has I have no objection to Souris getting its full share; but the depth of water there 18 by no Means so inviting, large ships cannot be accommodated in it as they can be at Montague Bridge, aud, ‘herefere, if anything is to be subtracted from what has usuvily been granted to Georgetown, Montagus Dridge has aright to @ full share of it. IL do not wish to withdaw fron Summerside Pnything to which it 18 jusly entitled, but when we have to divide between con- tend ng claims, [ think it. is only fair pha! the place which contributes the most to the revenue should be ence uraged the most, ” Hon, Leaver ce tur Governuent.—The hon. m m- b rsfrom King’s Cour’y seem to think that there was some design in this matter, but it was considered that the division of this grant was a fair one for the purpose for which it was intended, This money is for the pur- pose of procuring stone to macademise roads, and it was thou.ht that as Georgetown has greater facilities for obtaining stone than Summerside, as much con'd be done there for £2U0 as could be dene in Summerside for £300 {t way be true that the roads about Montague Bridge are worse than those about Georgetown, but it must be lemembered that this grant is for the purpose of obtain- ing stone for this great Crusher about which we have heard so much, aud if it were divided ‘nto small grants it wou'd be mcre expense to move the Crusher about than it would be worth. Llon. members may sey that each district should bave equal amounts, but this prin- ciple cannot te earrted cut even with regard to the getersl appropriations, for some cistr.cts have more bridges than ovhers, and we must give them amouste proportioned to the neeessitics of the ease. A larga portivn of the produce of Queen’s County is shipped at Summerside, and there is a great deal more traffic there that at Georgetown. It is all very weil for hon. mem- hers to ta’k sbout the wharf at Montague Bridge not being built; but when persons petition for £50 or £60 to build a wharf, and it is found that it will require £500 or £LAVU to do it, what is the Government to de ina case of that kind? ‘There is vo intention of doing any unjustice to the people of Georgetown in this matter, Batperston, Reporter.
