, 22, 2006 THE CADRE @ 13 {élanie Bernard naging Editor eing the managing editor of the Cadre his year is an honour. or the last three years I have been orking towards this. I graduated high chool and I knew I wanted to go to niversity right away to get it over ith. So I started at UPEI in the fall f 2003 as a student in the Print Me- ia program. This program requires me to complete one year at UPEI, two at Holland Col- Welcome From a New Editor lege in the Journalism program where a diploma in Newspaper Reporting must be obtained and a final year at UPEI. That’s where I am now. So when I found out I’d be the managing editor of the Cadre, I was thrilled. I am here to put my education in jour- nalism to work. Journalism isn’t a field of work people go into for the money, UPEI Student Union because there isn’t any. It’s not about making a difference in the world, be- cause that rarely happens. It isn’t about the fame, because very few of us will make it in the big leagues and we will not become household names like Peter Mansbridge. It seems harsh, but these are the realities. I’m in this because I love it and that’s really the only reason most journalists do it. This year, I hope to bring you guys some stories that really matter to you. If you see me around and I don’t look like ’m rushing to get to a class, let me know what you think and if you have any ideas, let me know.
