By September i956. it was ren- lized that little could be expected in this regard from the Provincial Government, and after conceding that there was little hope of finan- cial assistance from any other source, the whole matter was brought before the Council of the City of Charlottetown and. altar discussion. the request was made to have the City undertake such a complete survey to ascertain the cost of installation of water and sewage for the metropolitan area. such survey to show the cost of separate systems for each of the areas as well as the cost of an intengrated system. The latter was to be an exten- sion of the Charlottetown water and sewage system to service Spring Park and Parkdale as well as the extension required for the areas of Charlottetown not at pres- ent serviced. .. Thereupon. the Council of the es of Spring Park and Parkdale and the Charlottetown Board of Trade. Following lengthy discus- sion. it was there decided that the representatives of the three incor- porated bodies should by resolu- tion pctitlol the Provincial Gov- ernment. whose Legislature was in session at the time. for assis- tance in finding the answers to such important technical ” affecting all three communities. The Metropolitan Committee im- mediately set to work to procure and study as much factual inform- ation as possible on all aspect of learning and asslrnllsting such facts, it was felt it would be pos- sible on all aspect of metropolitan administration. By learning and assimilating such facts. it was felt it would be possible to draw many obvious conclusions or make cer- tsln pertinent recommendations.
