Sm,-In May last- s death occurred in Orwell under peculiarly sad circum- stances. Coroner Moore of Eldon on being sent for impanelled a jury from amongst the most intelligent citizens of the place and after hearing the evidence they, brought in their verdict. What followed your readers know. Dr McNeill of Obarlottctown in a scholarly article showed how the man's death might be 'caused by_a blow over the solar plexus, by a fracture of the base of the skull, by indian hemp or other drugs in the liquor he drank etc. etc., ond he claimed that s post mortem examination of the body should have been held in order to ascertain the exact cause of death. Now we have Dr McNeill himself con- ducting an inquest on the body found in the harbour on the 22nd lust. In this case the learned doctor appears to have forgotten the solar plexus, Indian hemp, and .eyerythiug else he suggested as being a possible cause of death in the case of the man at Orwell and it docs not appear to me that the verdict arrived at yesterday by Coroner McNeill and hisjury is better . calculated to satisfy the public as to the '_exaot‘cnuse of death in thecase of this unfortunate young manlthan was Coroner Moore’s and his jury's in the Orwell case. In the former case there was more to arouse suspicion of foul play than there was in the latter. The young man had much more money in Charlottetown than ascertained what had become of the balance. Here was what might appear a motive for foul play. 'Now Mr. Editor, I think it is up to Dr. McNeill and you who criticized the Orwell Coroner and jury so harshly to explain it was deemed so necessary in the case of MoPh‘ée.
