Wee Qa! Delagoa Bay Award. Waspixctoy,, March 31.—The di-- Satisfaction expressed in England at the findings of the Delagoa Bay arbitration is sharply reflected in Washington, and there are no lack of intimations that the decision is by no means the end of this celebrated case. The findings, as it is represented io the government, have simp- ly resulted in a decree that, if observed, would plupge England and the United Siates in protracted. litigation in the endeavor to satisfy the just claims of the claimants to the money out of a sum y inadequste for the purpose. It has been poinied out that tke arbritra- tore themselves have paved the way ‘or a refusel of the principals to accept the ver- dict through their refusal to permit a re- assessment of the dameges #n*.ained, as was contemplated in the original order, avd there sre believed to be otber irregularities that would afford am)le ground = for a refueal bv the two governments representing the claimants to accept the arbitration, I: is nggested however, that the result of such aciion would be to still turther prolong the decision of the t:me consuming case, as recourse must then be had to another tribunal. Itis not yet determined what hall be done. The state departmect re- fuse to state their purpose urtil c-ive » copy of the verdict of tne arbi- ir-tore from any official source. Possibly the brief preliminary decisioa announced at Berne may vot be regarded as satisfying tos they re- the requiremerte, acd the extended vers dict reterred to a9 forchccming hereafter may be awaited before action is taken.
