JOHN MacLEOD There passed away peacefully at his home in Victoria Cross on August Slat. John M. Maclieod in his 49th year. The late Mr. Mac- Lcod was born at Victoria Cross on the 21th day of September. 1903. a son of the late John M. and Alexlna MacLeod. He spent most of his life at Vic- toria Cross where he conducted farming operations which were in- terrupted by his service to his country in the Canadian Army Ac- tive from l9-ii to i944. It was dur- ing his military service that he developed the IIIHESS which even- tually resulted in his early death. Mr. MacLeod married Ella. Buch- anan in 1932. Her loving care and untiring devotion sustained him during his long hours of suffering. whidh he bore with heroic patience and fortitude. Although Mr. MacLeod knew for more than a. year that his day! were numbered. not even his cloa- est friends and relatives were A- ware of the seriousness of his ill- ness until shortly before his death. Besides his wife there are left to molnn the loss of a loving father and brother, one son, John Mav- nard, 14 years of age. and daugh- ters; Mary Margaret, 13 years of age: Ada Doreen. it years of age; Betty Ella, 3 years of age. and Bar- bara Alexina, born -July 4th. i952. all at home; one brother. The large concourse of neigh- bours. relatives, and friends who attended the funeral bore silent tributes to the esteem in which the deceased was held by all who knew him. The many floral tri- butes, cards and letters of sympa- thy. and the many words and acts of sympathy and kindness received by the immediate mourners. also bear out the general feeling of ions occasioned by Mr. MacLeod's un- expected passing. .
