The attendance was small, and the weather un favorable for good shooting. Sergt. B. C. Prowse won the cup with a score of 82 points, Captain Stewart coming next with 78. This is, we understand, the third time in success- sion that Sergt. Prowse has won the cup, and it now becomes his property. We congratu- late the young and popular Sergt. on his good shooting. The Engineers competion is in progress this afternoon. ceinindiin Eviction Scenes.—A Dublia despatch says that another conflict took place at Falcarragh on Monday, between evictors and tenants, during which twenty-five policemen were in- jured. The house was barricaded in the usual way. The police being unable to effect an entrance through the doors, scaling ladders were procured. As the police swarmed up the ladders the inmates rained every manner of missile and in some cases ladders crowded officers were thrown violently to the ground. The superior force of the besiegers prevailed and the evictions were finally accomplish 2d, ie upon them, with More Retws Uneartaed.—Oa Tharsday last, says a Bathurst, N. B., despatch, as Mr. George Murray was digging post holes for the erection of a fence on ‘Mr. Robert Ferguson's property, at Younghall, about two or three miles from town, he unearthed three copper kettles—one large and two small ones, the small ones being covered over by the large one--and an ancient battle axe of metallic composition. Fvllowing up the discovery he next unearthed the skeleton of a human being. The skeleton was that of a man of large pro- portions and is suppose 1 to be the remains of a Spanish sailor, who likely lived with the In- dians. Mr. Murray says that he thinks the body must have been interred there over 100 years ago. The depth at which he discovered the skeleton is about three feet; and he says = earth in which it lay was of a very dark due, —o“e + The Inter-State Commission. Orrawa, May 29.
