Ltd, have completed construction of their new plant here. A modern two story building houses the plant which is one of the most modern and quickest freezing units in this Province. Construction of the building was commenced in June oi this year by contractor Mr. Henry Mac- Laughlin. General planning and supervision was by Mr. Edward Gallant. The equipment was in- stalled by Linda Refrigeration 60.. Montreal. The cost oi the building and equipment being in the vicinity oi thirty thousand dollars. The shareholders in this company are Mayor Paul Gallant, Edward Gal- lant and Arthur Peters who will act as manager oi the plant, which will be used as a commercial stor- age and ior the most part in con- nection with the fish and meal packing industry here. This plant should prove a great boon to fish- ermen here as the nearest cold storage is in Montague and the problem of keeping fish and ob- taining bait had been a serious handicap in recent years. —So. Toenjes said trees sprayed with hormone retained all but l5 per cent oi their apples when a dheck was made Oct. 15. Utnspraycd trees had lost 90 to 95 per cent of their fruit b that date. Originally eveloped as a weed killer, the hormone. first tried this year on Mclntosih apples, is called toloxy. a contraction of a long chemical name. Toenjes said apple growers have used smother hormone spray since 1944 to prevent pre-harvcst drops of Wlnesap and Stayman apples in New York and on the Pacific Coast.
