Jane Campbell died at Steilacoom, Feb 5th, 1900, aged 74 years, She wa born at Charlotte, Prince Edward Island, | of Scotch ancestry, and when a young woman moved to Wisconsia with he: husband, Jadge Alexander Campbell, who urviy ier, in i551 they came to lacoma, wiie: Juige Campbell practiced law for several! years, comiog here from Nevada, In 1889 they removed to American lake, where th save resided up to within a short time, when they moved to Steilacoom with their sou, Judge Fremont Camp bell, , lr ampbell wasa lady of strong | voman ‘haracter, and leaves many | friends to mourn her. She leaves two | daughters aod threesons: Mrs. Isabella | Howe, of Chiacago. Mrs. Libbie Hall, o Spokane,James Campbell, of Minneapolis, George Campbe!!, of St Paul, and Fremont Campbel! of this city. The funeral wili be held at the resid- ence of Judge Campbell at Steilacoom to- morrow at 1 o’clock. The above obituary notice is *clipped from a Tacoma paper of February last The Mrs Jane Campbell! whose death is reported was a native of New Lendon, and 8 sister of the late Captain George Mc- Kenzie, of French River. Judge < lex- eader Campbell is the oldest brother or William Campbell, M. L. A., of Sea View. Jadge Campbell left P. E. Island in 1848, He studied jaw after going to the United States and was admitted to the oar. He practiced in Nevada for several years and went to Tacoma in 1881. He was appornted, City Attorcey and assisted in Organizing the present Municipal Gov- ernwent writing all the city ordinances and bylawe. He was afterwards elected Judge on several occasions. Judge Oampbell is hsle and hearty. His mind is apparently as clear as when his brother last saw him 52 years ago. He writes agood legible band yet. In a} letter written to his brother last April (of ! 19) pages he gave him a splendid description of the City of Tacoma and surrounding country. He is now in his 83rd year. Com.
