Display Machine To Restore Heart Beat QUEBEC (CP)-A machine de- signed to restore the beat of a heart after it has stopped during surgery was demonstrated here Wednesday, The mechanical massager was shown at the 89th annual meeting of the Canadian Medical Associa- tion by Dr. A. Vlneberg and Dr. J. Litvack. both of Montreal's Royal Victoria hospital. The machine consist of two metal "clam-shells" lined with nylon and connect? to a pump. One shell is slipped under the heart and the other clamped on top so that the organ is complet- ely enclosed. The machlne then sets up a regular pulsating move- The doctors demonstrated the apparatus by restoring the best of a dog's heart after a five-minute stoppage.
