The f°11°W|-UI! was the report of
Mr. W. R. Shaw. Secretary of the
P. E. I. Sheep Breeders’  .at
the annual meeting Tuesday night.
The sheep industry in this pro-
vlnce has not shown any degree of
expansion in the year 1935 Two
factors which have had a decided
bearing on this situation am the
serious destruction from dogs and
the prevalence of parlsitlsm, The
former particularly is increasing in
its intensity.

Control of Dogs Is Needed

Parasite Control
Educational work has been con-
ducted in connection with the con-
trol of parasites and demonstrations
in the way of treatment have been
conducted at various points.
_ Arrangements have been made
during the year with the Livestock
Marketing Board to carry a sub-
stantial supply of all kinds of pow-
ders for parasite control. A sub-
stantial distribution has been made

pleasing to report that breeders of
all classes or livestock seem to be
more alert to the problem of par-
isitic infestation. `
Marketing of Wool
Decrease in Quantity
The quantity of wool marketed
through the Canadia.n Cooperative
Wool Growers' Association, Toron-
£0. showed a decrease in compar-
ison with the previous years rc¢-
ord. A number of reasons may be
advanced to account for this reduc-
tion. Cash in the hand and the
convenience of disposing of the
season's clip to the itinerant buyer
at the back door are potent argu-
ments when it comes to marketing,
As the individual quantities are not

Breeders' Association gave every cn-
couragernent to Sheep Breeders to
market their wool cooperatively.
Every Sheep Breeder in the Pro-
vlnoe was circularlzed early in the
season through the Provincial De-
ipartment of Agriculture. A second
circular was also forwarded in co-
operation with the Federal Live.

which was very substantially in ex-
cess of prices quoted by buyers

the House of Commons spent most
of the afternoon today discussing
cattle and bovine diseases and also
in initiating Agriculture Minister
Gardiner into the long-etablislv
cd parliamentary practice of de-
partmental quirzing.
For most of the afternoon e vote
of $1,900,400 for hee-ith of' lnimiils
and administration of acts relat-
ing t.o contagious diseases was be-
fore the House. It provided a field
day for new members to fini. out
government regulations relating to
bands disease, bovinc tuberculosis
and other afflictions.
It was the first time the Min-
ister, formerly Premier of Sask-
atchewan, had his estimates be-
fore the House and he was a busy
man supplying information. Many
of the questions came from new
members of the I-louse who were
not acquainted with departmnetal
regulations.
The item finally passed with ai-
most an audible sigh of relief
from the Minister, the House timi-
ing to another department.

There have been no increases
in duties on tractor parts, Revenue
Minister Iisley told W. A. Tucker
(Lib. R/osthern) in the House of
Commons. The Saskatchewan
member said the International
Harvester Co., sent a letter to
dealers in his riding announcing
the cost of parts for duty-free
tractors would be increased 33 i.-3
per cent. It was inferred. the mem-
ber said, this increase was due to
changes in duties. No changes
have been made in duties, Mr.
Ilsley said. The traciors enter free
but there has been a tariff ag-
ainst parts for. some years.

Because Canadian electors are
reluctant to offer objection to
names, of deceased persons appear-
ing on the electoral lists, Col.
John Thompson, Dominion Fran-
chise Commissioner, has suggested
amending the Franchise Act -to
cover this. The report on the com-
missioner was tabled in the House
of Commons. Under the Act he is
required to report to the Speaker
of the House of Commons if any
amendments are desirable for the
more convenient administraiion of
the statute.

one year a loan to the Province of
Saskatchewan amounting to $3.-

An order-in-council authorizing
renewing of the loan which mat-
ured Feb. 16 was tabled in the
House of Commons today by Fin-
ance Minister Dunning. The Min-
ister reported to Cabinet that the
provincial treasurer of Saskatche-
wan stated finances of that prov-
ince did not permit redemption of
treasury bills which the Domin-
ion held as security for the last
loan. He requested renewal-for an-
other year. As security for the re-
newing loan the Dominion has ac-
cep'ed treasury bills carrying four
per cent interest.
