Cape Town, July 16, Krell, the paramount chief of the Galeks, who has long defied the attempts to capture him, has surrendered with all his people. Paris, July 17. The minister of marine has a despatch from Sfax announcing that the French squadron had armved in that harbor on Thursday, bombarded the town on Friday, attacked it on Saturday in front and occn- pied it in spite of vigorous resistance. Roensstrer, July 16. Dr. Lewis Swift, Director of the Warner Observatory, yesterday, received a letter from J. M. Schaberie, Ann Arbor, Mich., announcing he had discovered nebulous matter in R. A. 5h. 48m. declination N 38° 45m., but daylight obscured its identity. Dr. Swift, at 3 this morning, reperted he discovered the matter in conste)lation Auraga. I[t is quite bright, being larger and wore luminous than the one discovered May Ist by Swift. Its centre is strongly condensed, and from its motign apparantly is very slow. It cannot be ascertained if it is going directly towards or from the earth. The comet is telescopic. Swift thinks from the poet eee of the comet that it is the expected comet of 1812, moving very s.owly towards the northwest. Schaberis puts in a claim for the $200 Warner prize. Wasuineton, July 17.
