'IHE UPEI SUN, Nov. 2, l978,page 2 DAY CARE CENTER ON CAMPUS 'lhe University of Prince Edward Island Daycare Centre is operated under the auspices of the Depart— ment of Student Services. It is in— tended to provide a service to the children of students, faculty and staff of the University. The Centre is operated by full— time staff in accord— ance with the Provincial Government Regulations and meets all prior health and safety standards. Registratim in the Daycare Centre is open to children from two years of age to school age. ’ 'lhe Centre's program stresses social and emotional growth in the young child. It offers a flexible program and a stimulating environ— ment. The children have access to many areas of the campus including the Rink, the Audio Visual Dept. , Gymnasium, Music Building, Biology Lab, as well as the spacious grounds of the University. 'lhe Daycare Centre is located in a su'my spacious room, next to the Health Centre, on the lowerIfloor of Marian Hall. It operates Nknday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from the beginning of September until the end of May. All questions concerning the operation of the Daycare Centre should be directed to the Deth of Student Services, First Floor, Main Building, University of Prince Edward Island. Phone 892—4121, ext. 147 or 148. In order to facilitate the operation of the Daycare Centre it is necessary that all parents who have d'iildren enrolled in the Centre abide by the follwing regulations: CLOTHING Please provide clothing for outside, play, old smocks or shirts for painting, and one catplete change of clothing to be kept at the Centre. Recreational equipment sud'i-as skates, may be required. If so, the staff will notify the parents at the appropriate time. MEALS Snacks consisting of juice, cookies or fruit will be provided to the children. A noon meal will be provided by the Daycare Centre. It will consist of smething light such as soup, sandwid'l, dessert. Parents are invited to come and visit‘ their children during lunchtime and, if they so desire, bring their own lunch along and eat with the children. CHIID WELFARE Children on prescribe drugs must have I clearance from a doctor to attendthe Daycare Centre. If druqs are to be administered during the daytime, written directions must be left with the University Nurse. 'Jhe University Health ‘ Centre is open daily, and a doctor is in attendance on a regular basis.
