VHIS SCHOOL offers, at very moderate cost. the advantages ofa comtortable and pleasant home together with a thorough and refined education. The course of Instruction is the same as that of the best.Schools in England and is founded upon the University Examinations for Women. Eight young ladies from this School passed the Local Examination of the University of King’s Coliege in June last. This is the only School in Canada that has passed pupils at a University Examination. ‘The number of pupils is limited, rendering the School select, and while it possesses all the , educational advantages of a large public school, each pupil is enabied to receive that indiv idual care and oversight which is so important, and which cannot be given ina large establish. ment. At Alicante also, the com- mercial port of Valencia, the whole plain was covered with raging waters which form a lake nearly thirty miles in extent. The inundation passed over the enormous stone table in which Alicante is inlaid, streamed | through its arches, its half dark piazas and narrow streets, and wrought havoc only second to that ‘which ravaged the plain of Murcia.
