But I regret to state that the condition of the Poor House of P. K. Island isa disgrace to any gov- ernment or country of whieh the Christians. [Let Liberal or Conservative. and go through the different wards. He will find from man, huddled together a small room containing besides the inmates fifteen or sixteen beds, or a bed for each inmate. Some of those beds are in without pillows, andto add to the Misery Os the sane among our un- fortunate fellow beings they find themselves associated with lunatics andid.ots. Of this class the Pp oor House has eleven, who should at once be removed to Falconwood, where they rightfully belone. I do not consider it fair on the part of any government to have such beings as this class under the care ot the keeper of the Poor House—particularly when there are upwards of fifty inmates in such a building as the P. KE. Island Poor House. In my opinion, and] am sure the opinion of any right-thinking man, irrespeetive ot his political feelings, it would have been far more com- mendable for the Farquharson Government to expend a_ small ariount of th e money used in cor- rupting the electors of Prince Ed- ward island at the lant veneral election in purchasing a farm near the city of Charlottetown where could be placed those unfortunate people to assist in earning their own living, and-not be a burden ona class of people. JUSTICE, 1900. King’s County, Dec. 6th, The fact that all women suifer during the birth-hour leads a great many women to accept a degree of suffering which is altogether unnecessary. Sometimes it is hours, sometimes days before the struggle is over. No medicine can ab- solutely eliminate pain from this time of travail, but Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Pre- scription can and does make the baby’s advent practically painless. It acts upon the org ans of maternity, giving them stren and elasticity. It produces strength comfort and ‘mental cheerful- ness. It is an effective tonic, giving tne mother abundant nutrition for her child. SI Puieve I owe my life to Dr. Pierce's reme- dics, and have long felt it my duty to acknowl- edge the benefit I received from Dr. Pierce’ Favorite Prescription and ‘ Pleasant Pellets,’ ” says Mrs. Maria O. Hayzel, writing from Brook- land, D. C. “Six years ago, after the birth of down condition. My health seemed utterly ne. Life wasa burden. 1 dectored with three ifferent physicians and got norelief. I began to get worse, and to add to-the complications, I suffered terribly from constipation. I chanced to see one of your advertisements and concluded to try the above remedies. I commenced to take Dr. Pierce’s Favorite Prescription and ‘ Pieasant Pellets,’ and began to improve right away, and continued improving anc gaining in strength, I cannot express the relief, it was so great, Seven months later my little daughter was born without much trouble. I feel that I would never have been able to endure my confinement only for the help due solely to Dr. Pierce's medicinés.
