Roosevelt has taken the oath of ofilos and
must eali a session of ` Congress, giving
twenty days’ notice. The membersof the
present Cabinet will tender their resigna-
tiona and the new President may re-
appoint them, or one or more of their
number, or may in his discretion choose
amsntircly new =Sabi‘net. In all 
where a Vice President has thus succeed-
ed to the Chief Magiatracy he has lived
out the balance of the term,_but provision
is also made for the death or disability of
a Viee President who so succeeds. In the
ease of the death of Hr. Roosevelt before
the expiration of the term the Seoretaryof
State would become President. The next
no order or osooouioi. would bo the
Secretary ofthe Treasury, the 
of War, Attorney General, Postmaster
General, Secretary of the Navy, and
Secretary of the Interior.
It will thus beseen that the succession
is fully provided for, so as to prevent the

hcadship of the nation. The provisions
last above cited did not exist in the Con-
stitution but were enacted by the Forty-
and dangers which had arisen.
