Catholics appreciate good Government and dislike corruption in official quarters, quite as much as any other class of electors, and it is generally, if not always, found that as the great majority of Protestants vote—where there is no religious issue—so also vote the Catholics. All are guided by the same motive, viz.—to secure honesty and efficiency in the management of public affairs.” ATKINSON’s ante mortem deposition was taken at Sackville on Friday, but he was much easier on Saturday morning, and there are prospects that his life may be saved. He estimates the distance at twenty-five or thirty yards.
