Last evening she opened the safe and found that some one bad stolen the money there- from. She always kept the key of the safe in her dress pocket, and it is supposed that some person who was aware of this fact stole it while she slept, and opened the safe. The Toronto district’s | resolutions for his expulsion was rejected, there being only twelve votes fur it; and by | a vote of 56 to 40 a resolution was carried | suspending him from the ministry for one year, | Railway Accident. Niagara Fats, Ont., June 8. A party of five Spaniards entered a car on the inclined railway on the Canadian | side this forenoon, during the absence of the attendant. The car, with the weight of the party, descended at a terrific rate of speed, and when it reached the bottom, crushed inte a wooden structure below, in- juring the whole party, one lady so severely that she cannot recover. The names of the party cannot be ascertained at present. Students Expelled. QvueBec, June 8. A difficulty has arisen between the Ree- tor of Laval University and a number of students as to the extra charge for gas. Twenty three students having refused to pay for extra gas they burned were expell- ed to-day and the police were called upon to see that they departed quietly, asa violent demonstration was feared.
