At | the time appointed, however, the pastor of ithe circuit and the lecturer arrived, and | more people were assembled than either ex- | pected under the circumstances. All who were present enjoyed a treat, and received | instruction that they will not soon forget. | At the close of the lecture, a vote of thanks | was moved by Mr. L. Hayden, seconded iby Mr. L. Furness, and carried unani- imously. If, at any future time, Professor Burwash should visit the neighborhood, I have! spoke, all of whom argued that the Free- town route, via Bedeque, was the shertest, ;and levelest route yet proposed, as well as the likeliest to yield the greatest amount of 'local traffic to the road. The following resolution, moved by . nm 7 Hiram Trueman, E:q., and seconded by Alfred Schurman, Esq. ,was carried wnanim- ously :~- Whereas, The Dominion Government have expressed their intention of commencing the Branch Line of Railway from Cape Traverse to the Main Line early in the incoming spring; and as surveys will require to ba made te ascertain the shortest distance and best loca- tion for the said road; and Whereas, A line passing through Be@eque up the valley of the Dunk River, to connect with the main line at Freetown, would be found much shorter than by any other route— the country being level — besides passing through one of the finest farming districts on the Island, which would materially imerease the traffic on the said road; Therefore resolved, That it is the opinion of this meeting that, if a survey of the route be made, on account of the shortness of the dis- tance, the levelnuess of the country through which the road would pass, it would be built much cheaper than by tapping the main line at any other point; and feel satisfied that the Government will adopt this route if brought before their notice; Further resolved, That, for the carrying out of the object of this meeting, a committee of five be appointed to communicate with Sir Charles Tupper, the Minister of Railways, asking for a survey to be made of this route. The following committee were then ap- pointed:—A. M. Wright, Major Wright, Alfred Schurman, Hiram Trueman and Stephen Black, Esqrs. The usnal vote of thanks was then ten- dered to the chairman, after which one of the largest and most influential meetings of the kindever held in Bedeque was brought to a close. a eeete ALBERT SoNURMAN, Secretary. Few minor inventions have begn so read- ily appreciated and come so quickly into general use as the stylographic pen. None who have used one will ever be con- tented with any less convenient appe- ratus for writing, and in a short time there will be few who have occasion to write at all who have not adopted it. The general principle of the stylographie pen is so fam- iliar as to require no explanation. We have made trial of various kinds, but have found none to equal the improved Liver- more Stylographic Pen, which combines all the advantages of other makes. It_is con- venient to use, writes with any kind of yood ink, and is practivally indestructible. Sold at first for $3 each, the price has re- cently been reduced to $2 for plain pens, with fifty cents extra for gold mounted. By sending that amount to Louis E.
