Iii-Increased ten- sion over Italian colonial posses- sions in Africa resulting from the lEthiopian troubles has turned the spotlight on Italy's “forgotten man," Marshal Italo Balbo, Gov- ernor of Italian Libya The calm progress Balbo has made as administrator of this col- ony wes recognized today as stand- ing in sharp contrast against other' troubled areas where Italy's an- nounced programme of colonial exploitation in Africa has met with barriers. Marshal Balbo, the man whose mass flight to Chicago through eastern Canada made him world famous, has re-shaped, re-wrought and rebuilt Libya in his just-com- pleted first year as Governor. The name of Italo Balbo might not be mentioned by an Italian newspaper more than once in a month. In speaking oi‘ his work the newspapers use the imperson- al reference, “the Governor of Libya." . But his first year as Governor of the North African territory has shown Balbo to be an administrat- or and unifier of the first quality. During Balboa year as Govern- or, Libya. has been united. Royal ‘Family Name The family-name of the Royal Family of Great Britain is now Windsor and that also is tho name of the Reigning House. This was ‘brought about by Act of Parliament because of feeling against Germany and German connection during the Great War. King liidwerd the Seventh was of the House of Baxe-Cobourg and the family of Wettin as the son of the Prince Consort, Albert o! Baxe-Cobourg-Goiha. If he had been born a private cltisen and had taken the name of his father he would have p been known as Edward Wettln. 8o, if his son, Ring George the Ififth, had been born a private citizen he would have taken viously there were Governors of Tripolitania, the western part, and of Cirenaica on the east. now has become Governor of all Libya. Mussolinrs newspaper, "Popolo Dltalia," of Milan, has just pub- lished an editorial on Libya. It does not once mention Balbo-by name, but says: "It is enough to cross the Med- iterranean to perceive with the naked eye how the results ac- complished in the economic, pol- itlcal, social and psychological field have not ‘been less than those obtained on the territory of the mother country.“ NEW PICTORIAL STAMPS ISSUED ARI ATTRACTIVE Phllateiists have expressed in- terestinanewisuo ofslmnpe produced recently by the Colony of Grendeda. in vrbwh resides the Windward WP feature scene in the Mend whllc the who: assigns any an impres- Sims of the King's head and the I ECZEMA Why try to remove sauna by s!» tarsal appliestlousi 0o strsl to the root of the name of his father and would have been known as George Wettin and that Bfllbfllwua his family name before the War. For the first time in many generations, both the House name and the family name of the British Royal Family are the same-Jllindsor. The speaker of the afternoon was Mr. Arthur Cooper who took Mr. Cooper's talk which was illus- trated throughout by orchestral recordings, was most interesting and instructive _and was heard with keen app. iation by the members of the club J-ie brought out the evolution of the various orchestral instruments and their place and importance in the mod- ern symphonic orchestra. At the close of the lecture Mr. Cooper gave o short blackboard demonstration of orchestration based on a few bars of a familiar tune. The musical portion of the pro- gram consisted of recordings of symphonic music and vocal oper- atio arias sung by Mrs. Fred Nash. The vice-president, Mrs. Nash, al- so presided at Saturday's meeting in the absence of the president, Miss McKenzie. At the close of the program a hearty vote of thanks was tendered Mr. Cooper and sf- ternoon tea was sewed. The next program will be pre- sented on January 5th when a. pro- gram based on "The Oratorio" will be given by members of the club. OONSIDERS MARRIAGE-AND STAYS SINGLE - BELFAST, Dec. i9—Me.rriage holds no attractions for General Evangeline Booth, heed of the Bal- vation Army. And that goes for New York feminine fashions, also. The General, who arrived here yesterday told s Buthering in Ul-| ater Hall that while she was in Chicago she had received a pro-l poaal of marriage from s‘ gentle- man who told her it was time she seriously considered the question. l "I have crlrldercd it and that is i why I am single,” the General said was the reply she gave her admirer. Commenting on present-day fem- l inine fashions, the Salvation Armyl lender said: "I would beck my uniform against some 0t the present day styles and my ‘ ‘ against some of the hats worn by women in New York." \ Use lllnardw for Burns _ .
