eldest child of James and Christina
Todd. lie had been ill only about four

pathy ol the community in their be-
reaviement as was shown by the large
number who attended the funeral ser-
vices which were conducted by the
llev. D. MacLean. The pall-bearers
were Messrs Edmund Mac Dougall,
.lolin Trowstiale, llerbert Dixon und
internment in Spriuglon Cemetery.-,

|81 Fitzroy St, when Miss Hazel Mc-
Callum of Harrington and Charles H.
Rattary of Unlou. were united In
marriage by the Rev. G. C. Taylor.
The bride was attended by Mrs. Ar-
thur Cudmore and the groom was
ably supported by Mr. Arthur Cud-
more. Supper was served at the Ar-
lillzton House, alter which the happy
couple left for their future home at
Union. '
WE_DDING BELLS.- A very pretty
wedding took place at the Presbyter-
ian Manse, Hampton, on Wednesday,
Dec. 8th, 1915, when Miss Mui'lel Vye
McNevln daughter of Mrs. J. A. Mc-
Nevin, Bonshaw, became the bride of
Mr. Heber W. McNeill of Long
Creek. Miss Clevia McNevin sister of
the bride acted as bridesmaid while
Mr. Harry Boates of Hampton ably
supported the groom. The bride look-
ed very pretty in a tailor made travel-
ling suit of grey cloth with hat and
gloves to nlatch. The groom's pio-
sent to lilo bride \'» as a handsome gold
locket and chain; After the ceremony
which was performed by Rev. Mr.-
Mactloy the bridal party drove to the
home oi’ the bride’s mother where a
-bountiful collation was served in Mrs.
McNcvin's most gracious manner. Mr.
and Mrs. McNeill were the recipients
ol' many handsome and useful presents
which testified to the -esteem in
which -they were held by their many
friends who wish them many years

VISIT .FROM .WlNTER. BIRD.-
Lovers of nature might be interested
to know that the Bohemian Waxwing
was seen in town on Saturday last, the
11th Dec. This is an Arctic bird. not
very common on the Island and only
seen in winter. The bird is larger
than the Cedar Waxwlng, or Cedar
Bird, which comes from the south and
remains during the summer. It is
greylsh brown ln colour with white
and yellow marking on the wing and
yellow on the tlp of the tail. These
wax-like growth on the tips of somé o
the strong feathers ol' the wings i-nfl
feeding on mountain ash berries.
Needless to say, they should not li
molested. ,
WOUNDED, BUT GLAD HE EN-
L|STED.- George Mooney, a private
in the Canadian Expeditionary Force,
writes a most interesting letter
Private Mooney was a seaman when
the war broke out. lie was born in
Charlottetown (P. E. l.,) and for
Iive y-‘urs lived at Woodstock. I-li
know that I ani getting along all right.
My knee doesn't bother me any to
speak of. I have been up for days ilow
but it is still a little sore when I
walk much. I could he in hospital yet
but I got tired ot' it and I would not
stay in bed. They tried to keep me on

nur.=te told me I wusn’t silpposotl to ge
like n lot more Canadians I know.' lie
told me I would be better in bed for a
week or two. But I want to he on
deck when Kaiser Bill checks in.
Well, it is much better here than at
hoes. That advance was a.ho1y fright.
I thought. I was going to get mine ie-very
minute. But the scratch I got was no-
thing, especially when it was below
the bell. We were supports to the Y.
l..X. and the Northern Lads. It only
lasted an hour and a half and in the
company of Y. L. X., they lost 124
men killed, and the Northern lads lost
heavily too. Our company was away
back. We Iost~50. They turtied _the
machine guns on us and when we
went to get over we got it heavy then.
The-machine guns kept- up a steady
Ilre; Some of the Lads got over the
German parapet but they had to,get
back again as the bullets were as
thick as mosquitoes. It was a German
stronghold. In one place we drove
them back but we could not hold them
there. There were too many for us.
Well, Tom, I am glad to hear the
Canadians are going so well. I am
glad I enlisted to do my hit.. I ani
having an extra good time and have a
lot of good friends here. They certain-
ly use us Canadians white. _.
