INCREASED SHIPMENTS-There has been a considerable increase in the number oi car loads of turnips moved from Prince Edward Island this season over last. From Septul, 1930, to April 22, 1931, 646 carloads were shipped as against .503 for the corresponding period in the previous year. For the same period this sea- son, 4,390 carloads oi potatoes have beenshlpped a slight increase over last season. . - SLUMP 0N POTATO MARKET- Due to the arrival oi large quantities of Island potatoes on the market as a result of the release of stock held up at Borden for some weeks, potato shippers at the present time are finding it diffi- cult to obtain an outlet for table stock potatoes. especially at any price that would warrant the grow- er loading on existing bad roads. There is not any general price of- fered and buyers are unwilling to ac- cept cars, except to fill orders as re- ceived. Unfortunately, the season is late, and it is doubtful if many more steamer cargoes can be handled. STE AMERS EXP EUTED-A num- ber oi fertilizer steamers are expect- ed to unload cargoes in Island ports in the near fixture. The S. S.
