Nearly a hundred motor boats ara on the south side of East Point, fishing from one mile to nine miles of shore from Red Point in the west to south-east of the Point, and a large number of boats also on the north side of East Point, 1 don't know how far west. Some five or six seiiiers, chiefly from Gloucester, are D e. continued, will produce the same result as before-viz. destroy the fish so that for nearly thirty years they were almost unknown in our waters.-But little havestlng has been done East yet, and it certainly will be one of the latest harvests on record, tliongli the crop looks above the aver- age. It becomes a painful duty to chron- icle the death of Mr. Alexander Nich- olson, of Union Road, who departed this life on the 29th day of August, 1914, in the 40th year of his nge. The subject of this brief' notice was the son of the late Angus Nicholson, Union Road, Klng's County, who pre- deceased him a short time ago. For the last two years Mr. Nichol- son suffered much from that insidious disease known as diabetes, und, while realizing a. rapid development into its more serious stage he concluded to enter the P. E. Island Hospital for treatment, where his affliction culmin- ated in his death. Mr. Nicholson was beloved by a host of friends-by all who had the pleasure ot' his acquaint- ance, ns was evidenced by the _large concourse of people who were in at- tendance at his burial. Deceased is survived by his life partner and five young children. two boys and three girls who have the sincere sympathy of the entire community in this their dark hour of affliction und sorrow. The funeral service was conducted by the liltevd. David Wright, pastor of St. Andrew's purish, Montague Bridge, “Be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man coni- oth."-Com. MR. GEORGE VICKERSON By the decease of Mr. Gcoii'g.e Vick- erson of North River nt the coni- paratively early age of 53, the com- munity loses an upright and worthy citizen, and his family, ai. faithful an uffcotioiiate husband and father. The funeral t_ook place on Tuesday, afternoon, the 15th. from his rcsi- dence to Cornwall (Ieinetcry. Over seventy carriages were in the pro- cession. The oi'fl<-.iatiiig minister was his pastor, Rev. George Orman, who had the solemn joy of receiving him with his wife and eldest daughter into the membership of the Methodist Church and to join them in the ful- iiiment ol' Oni' l.ord’s command, “This do in renienillraiiife of me." The following hymns, selected by the faintly, were sung under the leader- ship of Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Will How- ard, “Lead Kindly Light," Nearcr My God to Thee," “Asleep in Jesus" “Blessed Sleep." The I'astor's theme was “Heaven rejoice, and be exceed- ingly glad, for great is your reward in llcaven." 'llhe scene ol' sylvair beauty with its flowers of many hues, with its abundant promise of it lieaiitiful harvest of roots, fruit, and grain, led liini to ask his henr- ers to consider how beautiful and glorious must the place be which God lms prepared for those who love Him. MR CHARLES PIGOTT. lt was wtih the deepest regret that the people of Savage Harbor and vici- nity heard on Wcilnesday. September the lllli, 1914 of the death of an old friend and neighbor, Mr. Charles l’lg- ott. Though he had been in failing health for the past three years and was decidedly weaker this sunnner. yet owing to the brave spirit that re- fused to yield to the ravages of an in- sidious inward trouble, he was not wliolly_ confined to his bed. Even on the day of his death, he sat at the table with his family and partook ol' a little food. So that even after pro- tracted sufferlng, his death was a shock to the coinniunity. It is c. weakness of human nature to reserve all praise of u riian's true worth until his death, but it was not so in the case of Chnrlcs Plgott. His sterling integrity was fully known and up- preciated while he was living. Every one in Savage Harbor is willing to concede that he was one of, if not the best man in the community. Hospit- ahle amounting to whole-hearted gen- erosity, unassuming and scriipulons- ly honorable in all his dealiiigs with his fellow-men, his life was a constant rebuke to the evil, and nn inspiration to the good. The fnrierul was held on Friday morning ut 10 o’clock, the Rev. R. P. Murray. pastor of the 1lf»f~¢>»»~-:\. conducting the service and preaching from the text: “A good inaii's ine is sweeter than honey and better is thc death of that man than his birth." A large concourse of friends followed the remains to the Mount Stewart Cemetery where interment took place.
