One of the women happening to enter the shop, the thief darted past her and out the door, fol- lawed by her, jshouting. A Ilttle 12 year old son of Mr. Doherty followed the thief closely and found him in McCann’s alley behind a barrel. The little fellow, with indomitable pluck, clinched him and held on to him for some time, but finally was obliged to let go, his strength not being equal to the task. The thief, on emerging from the alley, ran on down Main Street, and was caught by Mr. Doherty’s elder son, who laid him gently down. The police were immediately on the spot and the thief was taken back to Mr. Doherty’s shop, and on searching him there were found two sil- ver watches and a watch case. The fellow gave his name as Harry Wilson,of P. E. L., and took the matter very covily.
