Oct. 12.—The particulars of a mest atrocious crime, committed a short time ago, are published in the Raglish papers this morning. MURDER CONFESSED. William Marianns de Jongh, clerk to the Minister af the Celonies at the Hague, confessesgto murdering a school boy named Marius Bogaardt, a son of a former Secretary Generai,now livinga retired life. The murderer laid his plans | very cunaingly, aud before seenring the (Via Fren LONDOM, boy had written a letter to the father asking for 75,000 guilders, or 30,000, for the surrender of bis son, but how and where the ransom was to be paid was not clear, theugh it is suppesed De Jongh had accomplices. The con- fession of how the murder was commit- ted was told by the prisoner to his sis- ter, to whom he w as devotedly attached . After his avowal of his crime his sis- ter asked him what motive he had fo the horrible deed, He answered :-— ‘I saw our father die in poverty. As for myself I could not make my way in Iocdia, bnt I had a place in the same office where father worked, with no better prospect than he had. What would be my mother’s lotand yours ?
