Clinic For Crippled Children Is Concluded , __._. During the last week 110 crippled thiidrenhavebeen examined at the Red Cross Clinic by Dr. T. B. Acku of Halifax. This number included twenty seven children who had never been previously examined by tho ortho- pedist. Several children who had been under supervision for wmetime were disohargd from the clinic as cured. The remainder were examined and advised of the proper course of treat- ment for their respective cases. Several children. crippled as a re- sult cf infantile paralysis, have been greatly improved as a result of op- erations, Seven operations were per- formed on children at the Charlotte- town Hospital. and two at the Prince Edward Island Hospital. In cases where special exercises were recommended by the doctor. Miss McDonnel at the "clinic carried out demonstrations for the benefit of the parents and children. Many types of cases were examin- ed, including club feet, flat feet. weak feet. infantile paralysis, spas- tic paralysis, obstetrical paralysis. dislocated hips, tuberculosis joints and other deformities, spinal cur- vatures, bow legs, and arthritic con- ditioils. The practice of holding clinics for the benefit of crippled children was begun in this province by the Red Cross four years ago.
