sons perished and four were rescued

L. in the narrow. channel between
Besuharnois and Isle Perrot, at the
mouth of the Chateaugay river dur--

A few days ago while "Casey"
Baldwin was giving an exhibition of
Hydro-aerodrome flying at Baddeclc,
the floats came otl the machine, the
aviator was plunged into the water
und the ‘drome badly wrecked. At
_the time of the accident the machine
was making over forty miles an
hour. i The hydro-aeroplane is prac-
tically a bi-plane dtted on floats and
when moving at a. rapid pace the lat-
ter barely skim the water’s surface.
-Halifax Esc. This hydro-aeroplane
was one of the attractions at the
P. E. I. Exhibition held in Septem-
ber lest.
A. A. Bartlett and F. R. Hearts,
Charlottetown, who are now making
a European tour together, had a
very exciting experience recently-an
erpcrience which they are not likely
to forget. They had left Bordeaux by
motor car when another motor car
coming' from the rear at a terrific
rate ran into them with the result
-that both cars were smashed to bits
and the occupants hurled out on all
sides with great force. ‘Tha wonder is
that no, one was killed though all
were more or less injured and severe-
ly shaken up. They were saved it ap-
pears by .a mule and his driver who
got in the way. The mule acted as a
"butler" a/nd in doing so doubtless
saved some lives but lost his own.
The mule driver was seriously hurt
but strange to say was not killed.
Mr. Bartlett sustained a bad cut un-
der tlie chin and a bruised shoulder
while Mr. I-leartz received a deep cut
over the eye and had his head bruis-
ed. They were both taken to a phar-
macy and had their wounds stitched.
As ai result of the accident they were
both condned to their rooms for
some days and will likely cut out
that part of their trip through the
South of France and will proceed- to
Switzerland. -

in Charlottetown yesterday afternoon
when a horse attached to an express
wagon dashed ofl at a tremendous

occupants, two small children out on-

in Moncton last week on the resolu-
tions passed by the Maritime Board
of Trade at its recent meeting in
Truro urging upon the Dominion Gov-
ernment thc necessity of double-
tracking the I. C. R. between Monc-

ond cable hctween the mainland and
P. E. Island and other matters. A
committee was appointed to co-oper-
ate with the other boards of trade
and go to Ottawa and urge upon the
Government the need of doubletrack-

when C. H. Harvey, agent of tire mar-

stenholm October 4, and was return-
ing to Hudson Bay. Capo Wolsten-
liolm is at the northeast corner of
Hudson Bay, at the western end of
Hudson Strait. The Minto was ex-

Octqlzier. It is supposed after start-
