ROYAL OBITUARY. IT is our painful duty, this morning, to announce the death of THOMAS OWEN, Esquire, Postmaster General of this Island, who departed this life at one o’clock this morning, January 9, at the residence of Mrs. Brcmner, Prince Street, in the forty-fourth year of his age. Mr. 0 wen was one of the most peptila r of our public men, and eilicient officials. As a Member of the House of Assem- bly, as Sheriff of King’s County, and lastly as Postmastt 1' General, he has won for himself the esteem and friend- ship all of parties. In the private circle, he was everything that characterizes the Christian parent and the hospi. table man. We deplore his untimely death, and its announcement will cast a gloom over the length and breadth of the Colony. Time and space forbid us entering into further particulars, which will be given in the next number of the IIERALD. In the meantime, we eontlole with his family and friends in this severe affliction with which Providence has been pleased to visit them. Funeral from Mrs. Bremner's this after- IlUUll. «- '.
