He was at- tached to a light driving wagon, which luckiiy was not occupied. The first dam- age done was to a bady carriage, a wheel of which was broken by collision with the run- avay. Fortunately the baby escaped with- out injury. The horse then went at light- ning apeed around the London House cor- ner, where the wagon came in contact with a pest. Likes fixsh the horse broke clear of his harness, overturning and smashing the carr'age, and kept on in his wild career. Of course a large crowd gathered around the wreck, and in due season the policemen arrived and hauled the broken wagon over te the Market Square. The horse was finally captured near the Drill Shed. The proceedings throughout were characterizsd by great excitement. Much enthusiasm was displayed by the friends of the respective candidates. Lar- rison's uomination was then made uuani- mous, Whitelaw Reid was nominated for Vice- President by acclamation. After this the Convention adjourned. PRESBYTRIAN NEWS, The General Assembly. Monrreat, June 11. The Assembly yesterday dealt with the home missions of the western section. Four Presbyteries were formed into the synod of British Columbia. Rev. Edward Grant presented the report of the aged and in- tirm ministers fand. For the eastern sec- tion the total receipts were $3,509. There sre eighteen ministers on the fund, the largest allowance being $200 per year The yrotits of the hymnai yielded the eastern section for this frod the sum of $483. Young ministers were urged to connect themselves with the fund. The evening was devoted to foreign mis- sions.
