His grandfather was a res- ident oi Bedeque and his integrity and zeal for his party is well remem- bered by some oi the older residents. If elected. Mr. Strong hoped to car- ry on those high traditions and look after the interests of the people of the Fourth District in the legislative assembly. Mr. Hugh Morrison expressed his deep appreciation to the delegates for his nomination and said that it would give him great pleasure to work in commotion with their load- er, Hon. J. D. Stewart, who was one of the most worthy men Prince Ed- ward Island had ever had as a lead- er. He recognised that they would have a hard fight but witlrsuch an able colleague as Mr. Heath Strong he was very optimistic as to the re- sult. He hid known Mr. Strong for many years and knew him to be one of the most until-lug workers for his party. As a resident of Kenslngton for over thirty years, Mr. Morrison said that he felt confident that he had the hearty support of the dis- trict and that he would do his best to retain the confidence that had been placed in him. The first event on the program, so to speak, was the Intermarltlme Match between teams of eight men from the Provinces of Nova Scctia. New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. This was fired at Charlotte- town on Thursday. June 12th. and was ‘an interesting contest, particul- arly between Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. New Brunswick had a remarkable team and, when the figures were totalled it was found that they were leading Nova Scotla by thirteen points and Prince Ed- ward Island by eighteen points, hav- ing mado a rather wonderful aggre- gate of ‘I10 points, very close tothe Intel-maritime record held by Prince Edward Island which is 179 points. That tho New Brunswick team was an outstanding one is shown by the fact that of the eighteen men con- stituting the Bislcy team of 1931, four of them fired on the Inter- maritime team for New Brunswick last year. In the evening the teams were en- tertained at the Drill Hall. The com- mlttee having this function in charge had an excellent program and very splendid refreshments, the ev- enlng being voted by all present a very happy one. The annual matches were held in July, just shortly before the Domin- ion election, and this coupled with the fact that haying was in full swing accounts for a smaller attend- Govern- ‘S1108 than usual. However, the shoot- ing was excellent and one of the features was the fact that a great many shoot offs were required to settle ties. cellent condition by Caretaker A. J. King who is very courteous and ob- llglng and therefore on good terms with all riflemen. ' The Dominion Government spent‘ considerable money in protecting the range from the encroachments of the sea, a new concrete wall being placed from the Butts up to the 200 yard range and also another section in the vicinity of the bungalow. It ls hoped ‘that this will be extended in the near future as it is most nec- essary to prevent the washing away of the land. And now we come to a most re- grettable part of this report, namely when we chronicle the death of two of our members, Major J. C. McDon- aid and Sergt. F. W. Judson. Major McDonald was one of our strong men and an active worker, and for sev- clal years had captained our Inter. maritime rifle team with signal suc- cess. He had popularized rifle shoot- ing in York and its vicinity and was on all -ccasslon to be found lend- ing a helping hand in furthering this good work. His fine personality made him a. great favorite with everyone and the fact that he never complain- ed of illness gave us no cause to think of his early demise. His death VJBS therefore a. tremendous shock to us all and lt is not too much to say that we have lost one ofthe best, li not the very best, members o.’ the P. R. A.
