»$HB'CADRE. Nov. Dear Sir. We are writing in reference to an article which appeared in the .October 29th edition of the Cadre. _”Media Manipulator." ‘ First of all, we wish to con gradulate you and your staff on se- lecting the Halloween weekend issue of the Cadre for this article, be- cause it really was a Joke, Never in my life, have I read such a bias pile of crap. Bias to the extent that the article seems to maintain that there is only one side to this argument; Senator McElman's. As a point of clarification, there is another side. a side that a considerable portion of New Bruns- wickers are in sympathy with. We freely admit that we have not 5 been appointed official spokesmen for the people of New Brunswick, but neither has Senator M'Elman nor Ken Waxman, but at least we have the experience of living in the province for most of our lives and at least we are aware of the consensus of opinion of the people of New Brunswick. towards Mr. Irving. As one point. we would like to know if Ken Waxman has ever been in New Brunswick, and again, if Senator McElman has ever returned to our fair province since his appointment to the Senate: if they have, its time they returned to reacess the situation in light of what New Brunswickers feed; ie.. that Mr. Irving is a shrewd bus- inessman who has done a great deal for the economic wellebeing of the province and has more than ful- filled his duties regarding .charitable contributions. In addition, Mr. Irving has re- peatedly stated that he sets no policies for his papers to follow, and that neither he nor any spokes- man for his corporate interests have ever dictated or attempted to influence his newspapers in any way. Mr. Irving has also stated that editorial policy if fully the res- ponsibility of the individual editors. Dear Sir: Here is an answereto”dis- appointed's'letter in last weeks CADRE. He should have signed it "disappointed shithead”. Please excuse this extremely vulgar and uncouth appellation but anyone who dares to bitch and complain about something, while doing noth ing to change it surely deserves it. I'd like to see the man who can change the world but who can not change a student newspaper. If you care enough to de- fend your stand— go ahead, put your talents to use. If not, _ then why don't you stop calling names like a little baby and turn to other pursuits which will hopefully be less annoying to those who are trying to get' things rolling. And I close, I So here's to you mrs. Robinson etc. He who says why not henceforth to be known as (H.w.s.w.N.?) >5c‘ooorw-v Earmsms In conclusion. we feel that Ken Waxman is a perverbial piece of shit who shares that title with other Journalistic assholes who continue to publish armpit articles about problems they don't understand, in provinces in which they don't reside, under conditions they are not aware of. In the future, we would ask these perpetrators of opinionated bull-crap to look at their own problem-free provinces for their tiresome verbal vendettas. Paul Doiron Jim Cameron Saint John, K.B. It is quite obvious you have been readinggK.C.'S "newspapers" a long time. If you don't realize he is controling what you read imagine what the non-educated New Brunswicker isthinking. For many years Irving has been con- troling what you think and he has donea very good Job.!lsn't it 'quite possible that it is you and not us who doesn't really know‘ how much New Brunswick papers are bias in favour of K.C.Irving and his ownings in that province. Of late we do not know if Ken Waxman has ever lived in yourf fair home province but be that as it may he still puts forward a valid argument. The article you were commenting on was an edited article which we received in the office if you would like to read the whole article we canmake it available to.you at any time dur- ing office hours. Maybe the f edited portion did not have enough information in it and if this is so anyone is free to look at the complete storyr Edgar Member of the Canadian University Press.
